Power BI for Database Developers

Kevin S. Goff, Microsoft Data Platform MVP

** Power BI for Database Developers **

For years, I viewed Power BI as a good tool for prototyping dashboard content but didn't necessarily think it was strong enough to compete with established reporting tools. While Power BI isn't a full-blown report writer, Microsoft has made serious enhancements to the tool over the years, and a result is a strong tool that is truly ready for "Prime Time".

In this session, I'll show some intermediate and even advanced dashboard content, based on an actual production example (I've changed the data for privacy reasons). I'll actually walk through creating the content and also discuss some of the powerful custom visuals that allow you to extend Power BI functionality.

ATTENTION: Getting into Cerner - Follow signs to Building III (enter from the Garage Entrance)

Directions: From Valley Stream Parkway, turn into the Cerner entrance that has a small Cerner sign on the left and a Siemens sign on the right. This is NOT the main entrance for Cerner. Follow the "driveway" (it curves around a bit) and it will take you to a covered garage, which is behind the Cerner building. Park in the first (street) level of the garage. The entrance to the building has a red awning and a sign with "C3-5" on it.

NOTICE: To gain entrance to the building, you must sign up using your full name (First and Last Name) on Meetup. If your name is incomplete, you may not gain entrance into the building.

NOTE: Pizza, soda, and networking commence at 5:30PM. Speakers start at 5:45PM.
