“Flat Light: Data Protection for the Disoriented, From Policy to Practice.”
The worlds of data privacy, security and law have always had reference points – or ground truths – that, like physical features in a landscape, served as navigational features for practitioners and policymakers alike. As time has passed and the state of data protection has become more uncertain, these features have eroded. As reference points, they are now either unhelpful (at best) or misleading (at worst). A deep state of disorientation is now upon us. Please join the Program on Data and Governance on Wednesday, February 6, as Andrew Burt, Chief Privacy Officer & Legal Engineer at Immuta, delivers a talk on “Flat Light: Data Protection for the Disoriented, From Policy to Practice.”
Andrew’s lecture will explain how we arrived at this point, and suggest how we can re-orient ourselves and find our way to meaningful data protection and security. At Immuta, Andrew works with a team of data scientists and engineers to automate legal reasoning within big data environments.
The event will take place in Saxbe Auditorium at the Mortiz College of Law, located at 55 W. 12th Ave., Columbus, Ohio, 43210. Nearby parking is available in the South Campus Gateway garage. Lunch will be served for those who register in advance.
