Please join us for West End Ruby Hack Night at The Iron Yard! As usual, we will do a code exercise, applicable to all Ruby skill levels. It's always a ton of fun; hope to see you there!
What is hack night?
Hack night is an evening of friendly problem-solving in Ruby for programmers of all skill levels. The night revolves around one or two programming exercises. You are welcome to code alone, pair up with a friend, or meet someone new!
How to prepare
We encourage participants to bring a laptop with them, but this is not a requirement! Leaving your computer at home is a great excuse to practice pair programming.
We usually post the exercises through the Triangle Devs Slack team. You can join that team via this Web page. Don't worry though; you don't have to join it if you don't want to. We'll figure out a way to get you the exercise.
Many of the exercises we choose come from the excellent Exercism Web site. They have a pretty cool command-line interface that makes getting exercises a breeze. Check it out!
For Ruby and programming newcomers
Welcome! We're so glad you're here! Hack nights are the perfect time to get you set up to learn how to program. If you could, please send a message to the event organizers to let us know.
Just ask! You can contact Jordan Reuter through this Meetup page or through the aforementioned Slack team (he's @jreut over there).
