Agile 101: What is it? How to begin?

You have probably hear the terms “agile”, “scrum”, and “lean” and wondering what is it or maybe your company is just starting agile and need pointers how to move forward?  Is your company considering or starting an agile transformation and need pointers how to move forward?  This presentation will cover the basics of agile and starting an agile transformation.

Dana Meyers and Tim Driver have a combined over 30 years consulting experience and will share their experiences for all; from the newbie, to the highly technical, and to the seasoned agilist.

More About the Speakers:

Dana Meyers is a consultant with over 10 years of experience working in project management, quality assurance, and process improvement. She has diverse background leading project teams in waterfall and agile-scrum environments, managing an enterprise project portfolio, and solid knowledge in project management methodologies processes and lean practices. She has worked for such clients as Manpower International, GE Medical Systems, IBM, Abbott Labs, We Energies, Northwestern Mutual, and recently at SECURA Insurance in Appleton, Wisconsin.  

Dana grew up in the city of Milwaukee, graduated from Carroll College (Waukesha, Wisconsin) with a Bachelor’s of Science in a double major in Communication and Psychology.  While at Carroll, she started a mentoring program for inner city children and co-published a research paper on alexithymia.

When she is not working, she’s an “advanced hobbyist” photographer, a picture framer, and loves going to live concerts; anything from rock, blues, classical, and even a good polka,…and loves bragging about her 81-year mother who loves Google and YouTube and learning new technology gadgets.

Tim Driver has 20+ years of extensive experience in the High Tech and I/T industries, which includes 15+ years in Program and Project Management working at some of the top large corporations in the country including Motorola, Hewlett-Packard, Lucent Technologies/AT&T, IBM, Microsoft and Capital One.  For 7 years, Tim served as President and CEO of Driver IT Consulting Company, which was a Certified Minority Owned Business that provided Agile Coaching and Training and Project Management Consulting.  Clients benefiting from Tim’s expertise include Lapcorp, Crossview, Wellsfargo, Schneider-Electric, Cisco, Broadcast Music Inc, Motorola, Northwestern Mutual and Discover.    

Tim is currently a Lean Agile Coach at Discover Financial, in Riverwoods, IL  where he provides Lean, Kanban and SAFe team coaching.  He is also President of New Directions Transformational Life Coaching and Consulting Company where Tim provides Life Coaching helping professionals and small business owners achieve allusive goals.  He also provides personal coaching for professionals experiencing career transitions.

Tim is an outstanding, award winning Entrepreneur, Principal Consultant and Senior Program Manager with a consistently strong track record of business development, program/project delivery, change management and agile transformations.  He has 8 years managing Agile start up and Waterfall-to-Agile transformations while leading and coaching development teams to successful product delivery. Tim is a software development process expert and coach with emphasis on delivery and continuous improvement.  He is certified in Project Management, Lean Six Sigma, and Agile Software Development.
