Johnson Graduate School of Management and director of the Emerging Markets Institute; and Peter Cornelius, managing director at AlpInvest Partners and head of AlpInvest’s economic and strategic research. The book, just published by Academic Press in November 2017, is coauthored by Soumitra Dutta, founding Dean of the SC Johnson College of Business. Financing Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Emerging Markets explains how micro and macro foundations of productivity, and hence economic growth and development, are inextricably intertwined.Using case studies to portray the entrepreneurial firm and its role in accelerating the speed of innovation of new technologies, their research identifies common flaws undermining public venture programs. Casanova and Cornelius will discuss how domestic companies compete and what drives innovation using relevant examples of successful ventures from India and China, two of the largest emerging economies in the developing world.
