PyHou - The AsyncIO Module - NEW LOCATION - Houston Python Meetup

Decisio Health 3900 Essex Ln. Suite #600 , Houston, TX (map)

Hello Pythoneers!

DIFFERENT LOCATION: Decisio Health has graciously offered to sponsor this month's Python Meetup at their offices, including refreshments, beer, and pizza. See below for new venue details and important parking information.

Glen Zangirolami will be introducing the Asyncio Module -- From generators to Asyncio we are going to learn a little about Asyncio and how it can help you in your personal and professional projects. We will start by covering generators and creating our own basic I/O Loop to demonstrate how Asyncio functions under the hood. From there we will cover basic Asyncio code examples.

This month, if you'd like to do a lightning talk on a standard library module, please leave a comment -- perhaps we can get a theme going!

NEW VENUE AND SPONSOR: Decisio Health --

We will be meeting at Decisio Health's new office at 3900 Essex Ln. Suite #600 Houston, TX 77027, on the sixth floor.  Decisio Health is excited to sponsor the Python Meetup, and we are excited to welcome this new venue opportunity.

FOOD/DRINK: Decisio will be providing Pizza (both vegetarian and meat varieties) as well as water, beer, and soda.  If you have alternate preferences, please feel free to bring your own (perhaps from Central Market, next door).

Note that air conditioning ends and custodial services begin at 9:00pm. Feel free to mingle afterwards, however we need to exit the office itself by 9:30pm so office staff can go home to their families.

PARKING: Plenty of marked VISITOR spots are available in the garage. Please DO NOT use "Reserved" parking, especially "Reserved Kelsey-Seybold" parking. (Parking at Central Market is also possible but "at your own risk" regarding their towing policies).

Share your Lightning Talks! A "lightning talk" is a quick mini-presentation (5 minutes maximum) on any Python topic you'd like.  We'll save time for 2-3 of these each month: to save a spot, post a comment with your talk's title/topic. Beginner topics are always welcome!

Presentations Wanted: If you'd like to share a topic with the group at an upcoming, let's talk!
