Denver Droids: Android Networking 101 by Mike Patterson

POSSIBLE Mobile 820 16th Street, Suite 600 , Denver, CO 80202 (map)

Without the internet, your phone can be pretty boring. With few exceptions, networking is the lifeblood of an app. So it's important to nail it. After this talk, you won't know everything about the internet, but you will learn about fundamental concepts, useful libraries, and some nifty debugging tricks. This talk is geared towards beginners and will cover OkHttp, Retrofit, GSON, and Picasso.

About Mike Patterson

Mike Patterson is a Software Engineer at POSSIBLE Mobile specializing in Android development. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Economics from the Colorado School of Mines. He is also triple platinum in Rocket League and currently disappointed in the Colorado snowpack.

About the Droids

Each 3rd Wednesday of the month, we meet at POSSIBLE Mobile downtown. From 5:30-6pm we will socialize and enjoy food and drinks. At 6pm we will either have a presentation about a new/interesting Android topic, or we'll work on a group project. If you are a new or experienced Android developer, or just someone that is curious about Android development, we hope you will join us and become a regular participant!
