Have you ever wanted to help solve pressing social issues in Cleveland? Have you ever had an idea to solve those issues, but didn't know where to start? GiveBackHack is your next step. We provide an environment where community members can partner together to work cohesively on technology-based solutions to social issues, and we provide the resources to help turn their ideas into reality.
In other words, we're a hackathon that blends technology, design, entrepreneurship, and social impact to create lasting social enterprises.
GiveBackHack is open to any community members looking to make a positive lasting impact in Cleveland. There will be a diverse group of attendees, both with regard to background and skill set. We find that the most successful teams have a mix of software developers, designers, and businesspeople.
The event kicks off Friday night, where community members of all backgrounds meet and pitch their ideas. Eventually, the crowd’s favorite ideas are identified and teams are formed around them. Participants then spend the weekend mentored by top social entrepreneurs, non-profit leaders, venture capitalists and prominent business men/women as they vet their ideas and build them into real products – physical products, smartphone applications, websites and a variety of solutions for the issues we face in Cleveland. On Sunday, the teams pitch to a panel of highly-impactful judges who determine the winners. Winners are then awarded resources to help transform what they pitched into a lasting social enterprise.
